Domain Knowledge

A unique domain name is your Internet calling card and you can use it on Hot Page

Everyone wants their cool .com domain name, right? Right now your site lives at https://your-site-name.hot.page/ but it’s not too hard to use your own domain name name for your Hot Page site.

  1. First, if you don’t own a domain name yet, it’s time to go out and buy one elsewhere. At Hot Page, we use Porkbun as our registrar.
  2. Wherever you have your domain name registered, you will need to direct it to the Hot Page servers. Create an A record from your domain to these IP addresses:

    75.2.92.1
    3.33.139.153

For more information on how to do that, please refer to your registrar’s documentation (the fastest way is probably to just google something like “how to create a DNS record on [name of your registrar]”)
  3. Open the Hot Page editor and go to the root for your site. This is where Hot Page lists all the pages on your site. There should be three tabs at the top: Meta, Pages and Style Sheets.
  4. Click on the Meta tab and enter your domain name where it says “Domain Name.”
  5. Save the changes and open your domain in a browser. It may take a few minutes or even several hours to start working because DNS records can be cached for a long time, depending on the settings you have chosen with your registrar.
